It’s International Babywearing Week! Yay!
Anyone that knows me is well aware of my love for babywearing. I always wear Ezra. Always. We have a BOB jogging stroller, which I’ve used a handful of times for walking, but Ezra prefers to be carried and I prefer to carry him! When he was a baby, I never left him in the infant seat and put him in the cart at the grocery store. Who would want to be in a hard, plastic bucket for hours at a time when they could be held close to their mother’s heart and warmth (not to mention her boobs)? I have two kids, and I honestly do not find it easier to lug around a huge car seat in lieu of wearing Ezra in my ring sling or wrap. To each his own, but that was just my logic. Plus, wearing your baby helps your breastfeeding relationship. Did you know that? Yep! Pretty cool, huh?
So this week, I’ll be doing a giveaway of A REALLY AWESOME CARRIER that you want to have in your babywearing arsenal. Trust me. Come back later for that.
I also wanted to tell you all about my wonderful friend Rebecca, the author of Mod N Natural. Rebecca is not only a cloth diapering guru, but she’s knowledgeable about all things attachment parenting and natural parenting. I value her opinion, heed her advice, and truly adore everything about her. Please go to her blog and read! Rebecca is also having a giveaway this week in celebration of International Babywearing Week, so go enter!

Oh exciting! Checking out now!

You and Ezra look just beautiful! Popping a baby into a ring sling is definitely easier than lugging a carseat and/or a stroller!

I love babywearing, too! My daughter is 2.5 and normally wants to walk everywhere but I still put her in my Ergo on my back sometimes and she likes that, too. It is great for when walking around downtown where there is little room for her to wander and where a little one can be trampled easily. Or recently, when we were walking through a crowded market with lots of breakable things for curious little fingers.

@Julia @ Natural Parents Network, I am SO EXCITED that you left a comment! I am such a huge fan of NPN! I love that babywearing has so many benefits for both mama and baby/toddler. It just feels natural to me, as do all of the tenets of attachment parenting. Thank you so much for coming by and commenting, Julia!

I completely agree about not wanting to lug around a car seat. I always said I would never do that. But now Liam always falls asleep in the car seat when we drive anywhere and I feel bad taking him out because he’ll wake up. Any thoughts on that??

@Kristel, I wake Ezra up, because I know once I get him in the sling or mei tai and latch him on, he’ll be out again in a minute. I just think about how uncomfortable it must be to be strapped into that seat. Essentially, it’s a plastic bucket with fabric over it, and I don’t find them particularly soft or cushion-y. If you make a habit of taking him out and putting him in the carrier, odds are he’ll probably stay asleep through the transition. BUT by no means am I saying it’s BAD to leave them in the seat if they’re snoozing; it’s just something I, personally, don’t do. LOTS OF PEOPLE do let them stay sleeping in the car seat, and their kids are perfectly fine! I say DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU!

@Julia @ Natural Parents Network, Thank you so much for commenting! I was SO EXCITED to see a response from you! I LOVE NPN! Babywearing is something that I hold so near and dear to my heart. It’s useful for more reasons than I can count, and it helps foster a close and trusting relationship between my babies and I. Yay for wearing your wee ones!

@Madeline, Thank you, my lovely friend! You’re such a kindred soul, it’s crazy. I can’t wait to hug you someday.

Chiming in to say, yep. We didn’t even buy an infant bucket seat. Just went for the convertible one and wore our girl whenever we went out. As a baby she was so easy to take anywhere, and always so content. I’m really looking forward to wearing my next baby.

Peanut loved me wearing her around pretty much until about 4-5 months. Then we switched to primarily using the stroller (we have a Bob too!).

Ezra has been worn everyday since birth. In fact, he turned one last month and I still wear him whenever we’re out. I do a back carry now, for the most part, because he likes to see out now (or a hip carry in the ring sling). Some days, using a stroller seems appealing (and we have, like, four), but I always end up taking him out! I’ve found that with number two, I’m savor ing every single second of infancy!
